LOYALTY
Building customer and brand loyalty requires consistency and aligning your incentives with your customers’ habits. In the course of building a retail store in both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce spaces simultaneously, I adapted my loyalty program over time.
The first iteration was a simple referral program: refer a friend and get $25 to spend yourself.
Next came a more on-the-spot reward: a bounce back coupon to use on a future purchase.
Eventually, I settled on a loyalty points system, which was a Shopify plug-in and integrated points from purchases in the store with purchases online. Having this sign at the register encouraged people to sign up, told them why they would want to, and also prompted members to remember to use their points. This integrated program allowed purchase tracking, targeted email marketing, and more features. By far more successful than the other approaches!
